im not as knowledgeable on transformers as a lot of you guys but i have never known ultra magnus to look exactly like prime, hes always looked a little different. am i wrong about that?

The toy was a straight repaint of Optimus Prime, but its trailer part transformed into an augmenting suit, to resemble what you saw in the cartoon.
I'm personally holding off for the white version of Ultra Magnus.
