Molding a character with tentacles?

I'm working on a 1/6 scale piece, in monster clay, that I plan on adding tentacle-like hair to. Similar to the predator I guess. If I have all these individual flowing tentacles, how could I cast them without breakage during removal? How did they mold the lsf Wolf Predator's head? I imagine my sculpt will end up with a similar look.

Now I know I could possibly cast them as individual pieces, but that's another problem I can't sort out. I don't see how I can make a mold for such small, winding pieces. For example, how did they mold the tentacles for the Carnage Comiquette? Those are the examples I can think of to help explain my dilemma. Any help is appreciated.
