Mongul vs Darkseid

Both are DC Comics despotic powerhouses. Have they ever fought?

Who do you think comes out the winner?

Darkseid (Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #134 (November 1970))

Jim Starlin liked Darkseid so much he co-created 3 characters based on him.

Thanos (Iron Man vol I, #55 (February 1973)
Mongul (DC Comics Presents #27 (Nov. 1980))
Lord High Papal (Dreadstar 1 - The Quest (November 1, 1982))

If we are talking the original versions of the characters (as I have long not followed the DC books) I have to go with Darkseid over Mongul. However, if the fight was limited to trading punches (no omega beams) Mongul might actually have the advantage.

It was actually from reading the newly released DC Universe by Len Wein HC, in which the very DC Comics Presents issue you reference is contained, that made me think of this question.

Did Starlin really create Mongul or did Len Wein? Starlin’s listed as artist, Wein as writer. No other credits for plot or anything like that.

Not sure if he is officially a "creator" but the physical resemblance of these characters suggests he was responsible for the look.

Oh, no question about that.

Marv Wolfman and John Byrne's

Terrax The Tamer is also another creation which was inspired by Darkseid. And My favorite After Darkseid 'cause he reminds me the Darkseid the most. Always looking for a weak spot to overthrow Galactus and his sadistic tendensies. And that selfsedified smug smile without showing any teeth.

And the answer to the theard is:

The One and Only Dark Lord of Apocalypse THE DARKSEID.

And here is my just arrived Darkseid figure from Mezco It's the best Darkseid figure ever. Just amazing, i was looking forward to this figure for a long time and it's finally mine. YAY

Galactus isn’t sadistic. He kills for food and has been described as a force of nature. He doesn’t delight in other peoples’ sufferings or death.

John Byrne did a Marvel/DC crossover where Darkseid fought Galactus and Galactus defeated him, so Darkseid is no match for The Big G.

Part of my original question is if Darkseid and Mongul had faced each other before. I agree Darkseid is more powerful, maybe not stronger, per Tet’s point. But has this face-off ever happened?

Oh sorry, what i meant was Terrax's sadistic tendensies.

I corret the sentence here.

''Terrax Always looking forward to find a weak spot and overthrowe Galactus and Terrax's sadistic tendencies. And that selfsedified smug smile without showing any teeth. ''

I like these Darkseid parts in Terrax.
