One other thing of note is the head is actually ball jointed and unlike the other McQuarrie MBs connects to the torso via a peg. I like the idea behind the ball joint as it allows for some nice movement but the peg poses a problem for those like myself who like to display the extra concept head beside the bust.

Interesting, I like that idea of putting a ball joint for mobility, they should do that with more busts when possible.

I wouldn't mind seeing it become the standard on the deluxe Trooper busts as it allows for more customization when posing multiples of the same bust.

GG seems to do great with creatures and characters with helmets but when it comes to characters themselves, GG always seems to be missing the mark (e.g. Motti, Lando, Princess Leia Slave MB, Luke MBs)

I wouldn't go that far. They've had their share of hits balancing out the misses IMO. e.g. ANH, ROTS and AOTC Obi-Wan, Tarkin, ANH Leia, ANH Han, Stormtrooper Han, Dooku, Sidious, Maul, Lt. Renz, etc..
As for Luke I've yet to see any company completely nail his likeness. The 4 MBs I have of him are IMO pretty good - Jedi, X-Wing, Stormtrooper and to a lesser degree Hoth.

I think Gentle Giant's likenesses on the whole are pretty good. I have the Count Dooku & Asajj Ventress statue, and Dooku's likeness is really impressive. But for whatever reason, no company seems to do that well when it comes to Mark Hamill or Harrison Ford. Even Hot Toys' Indiana Jones figure is a little iffy.

Just picked up the Black Widow, Throg, Thing and Lady Deadpool busts to go with my SDCC Thanos and I have to say I am hugely impressed with the quality of the line. I will definitely continue to collect the Marvel releases from Gentle Giant for a long while if they keep it up. Bring on Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon next!!!
