Help me buy a compressor

My wife is a fine artist. She usually always paints her canvas with brushes but now she would like give airbrushing a try.

So I want to buy her a compressor for Christmas. I have no clue what is good or bad. I realize you need one with auto-shutoff, moisture trap, regulator etc... But I also want one that is strong enough to handle acrylics and isn't too loud as she will be using it in the house after all.

I know it isn't statue related but I figure some of you painters know your way around a compressor.

If you want to invest in one that will last and is super quiet,

Super Silent Air 20A

its the one i been using for years. Its a work horse and quiet to this day with no issues. Has the moisture trap and is a oil compressor which is not a big deal and doesn't smell. She will be able to airbrush at night without waking anyone up and doesn't vibrate.

I did some videos on it.

now its not cheap tho, if your lucky can find it under 400.

Now there is some others out there smaller and cheaper, but after all my research and actually getting to test a silent air back in the day i went with the 20A.

Stay away from the $100 or under ones that are auto shut on and off, they are loud as hell, vibrate and won't get you a steady stream of air. You need to get something with a tank and that will last.

With compressors you get what you pay for

Thanks! So where can I buy the Super Silent Air 20A? Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be on amazon.

Also what is involved with an oil compressor?

have to hun them down, eBay or vendors online thru google.

some oil compressors smell, or burn oil and those are the cheap ones.

But the silent air with oil helps keep it super quiet and last longer. You just need to change the oil every few years. I didn't change mine for like 6 years and no issues while some require every year.
Ones without oil tend to be super loud and vibrate.
