Thanks guys.. I actually had three job offers roll in at the same time... today's orientation day #2 for one, I don't have the starting day yet for the other, and yesterday would've been my first day teaching a class in front of the school's board of admin (multiple people, but only the Head actually shows up).. and that would've been four days a week, five hours a day.. and an 80 minute drive daily... so I passed.
It sucks... you want to do what your degrees are in, but sadly.. teaching in CA. isn't a viable market for people who are "new again" to this state.
Place I'm working is temp/seasonal, with the opportunity to make it permanent if I bust my @ss.. but I'm there through mid-January, anyways. It's harder work than the other place that's chomping at the bit to have me, but it's also more personally rewarding (for me) work. I just hope I'm making the right decision by staying there and passing on the place that I might be able to more easily prove myself worthy of hiring on full-time after the holidays.... I think every job is crazy to various degrees, so I shouldn't think the "easier" job is in fact "easier"; it's just different.
....I think it's unfair to myself to be there for one day and have the "holy sh!t, this is tough" attitude already; I just haven't worked any sort of retail in years, is all.
