I PLAN on doing both.. only been in the business for a few months now, honestly. I've done a couple commercial spots here in Oregon so far, only.
Very soon I'm going down to see Bob Bergen, who's the voice of Porky Pig and countless other characters in animation. My agent and the studio I frequent in Washington - Iamsound - (as well as friends, family, neighbors, etc) all say I have the ability and mindset to kick arse in this industry - and I agree...haha, so I'm going all the way with it.
I sing semi-professionally and taught preschool for ten years ( I actually wanted to voice-act long before getting my teaching degree).. so I have some talent and am not afraid to "cut loose" with whacky voices or ideas...since I'm also a writer, I can write my own copy or just improvise once I know the gist of the message advertisers want conveyed in their work... all of which pays off in this industry.
I'll let you guys know when I start getting work you might bump into. It's been a fun career so far.. it'd be fun to share it with you guys.
