It is an incredible tale but the fact that none of the very British actors used German accents/acted German, really held it back for me. Powerful film however.

That's a common problem I've noticed in these types of movies. German with subtitles or proper German accents would've definitely helped.

Actually got worse for me on its second viewing. Went from dumb fun to just plain dumb

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

It doesn't. It gets high praise pretty much everywhere.
While We're Young - 5/10 Nothing special and could of been so much more with the actors playing in it and the subject matter.

His Kind Of Woman (1951) - 8/10
Not in my top 5, but this was a really great Film Noir film & one I'd never heard of nor seen before. Robert Mitchum stars with Jane Rusell (looking the best I've ever seen her) in this clever yarn concerning set-up mistaken identity. The dialog is fantastic with almost Thin Man like one-liners popping up from time to time. Vincent Price & even Jim Backus make great appearances. The action takes place in a tropical local' choc-a-bloc full of great bars, lounges, moonlit beaches, hidden two-way radios & many, many guns. If you like Noir & haven't seen this one, rent it. It's really good.

A completely absurd story, with awful dialog and annoying characters.

Right, it sure does, which is why I was so surprised by how much I hated it. The scenario with the wife is so outlandish and ridiculously complex that it kept me from getting into the movie. Instead, it left me bewildered at the lengths that were taken to set it up. I found the whole thing to be clumsy storytelling.

I really liked this movie. It kinda reminds me of Fletch (a more serious version).

For sure! The Sundance Channel and IFC are off-track for the most part, but TCM never wavers. They're one of the few cable networks with integrity, IMO.

Don't feel bad...I gave Godfather (I and II) a 1 or 2 out of 5 (can't even remember now). People forget in a day about ratings
