After browsing through Jay's gallery, I was sure he could pull off what I was looking for, in terms of the concept. I had noticed that a lot of artists who can draw great female characters sometimes have trouble drawing any sort of different expression on their faces. A lot of the times, it's just a dead expression. I think that Jay did a fantastic job with the look of contempt on Mary's face and the rolling eyes of Supergirl.
