Who knows though us collectors are not a very practical bunch so maybe the 1:3s could supplant the 1:4s.
Cannibalization in both directions is something to think about though as how many people would buy lot's of characters in both scales? I know I'd pick either the largest or the ones with the sculpts that appealed to me most.

About this, one point to keep in mind: so far, we know that extremely low ES still grant profit, in this scale.
Darkness was 150ES, Scorpion 250ES (and he's arguably the nr 1 pick of the Mortal Kombat franchise).
The hobby is growing a lot and more and more people are approaching every day.
When you slap a 200 ES on statues with PCS quality, you can be sure that people will buy it. Even if they already buy the 1/4 version of the same characters.
Remember that a company cares (and rightfully) only to sell, once they do, it's not their business if people buys to flip or whatever. And low ES will ALWAYS attracts a lot of buyers (not necessarily flippers, of course).
