I don't have a problem with studios releasing BD/DVD combo packs. What I do have a problem with is being forced to buy them when all I want is the BD. I've never understood this mentality outside of trying to squeeze more money out of audio/videophiles. I hope we see more standalone BD offerings in the future.

Thumbs up

I second that!

It's sort of ironic, if studios are wanting the consumer to move away from a current format and get into the habit of making the consumer purchase the 'superior' product, which is an obvious improvement over the original. Why on earth would they want to shove it down our throats with a DVD version accompanied too.

The only incentive that i see with the extra disc, being the 'DVD' is giving it away to an videophile whom is not fussy on the picture quality and has an original copy of the film in that format.

So yes, more standalone Blu-Ray discs please!

Agreed. Why would someone want the DVD when they are buying a BRD....Hello.... makes no sense. Plus its really annoying searching through auctions that are missing of one or more of copies of the film and sell for the SRP anyways.
BRD + DC and thats it. (occasional 3D disc.)

As you can see the reason from my post above - it's not all that strange to want both versions
