Oscar for "Batman Begins"?

From Saturday's Comics Continuum:

Batman Begins is one of seven films in consideration for the Academy Award for Visual effects, joining Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, King Kong, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and War of the Worlds. The field will be trimmed to three for Oscar night.

Man, what a lineup. It is going to be an all out dogfight in every category this year. I mean you freakin' got ROTS, Narnia, Goblet of Fire, King Kong, and Batman Begins!!! Just those 5 right there are awesome. Usually you only have like 2 movies who you think will be in the hunt but not this year, its loaded with blockbuster movies.

I'd give it to Narnia. I thought its special effects were the most impressive. King Kong, the character himself, looked amazing, but some of the dinosaurs (especially the raptors) didn't look so good.

I haven't seen Harry Potter or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

ROTS will get shafted because the Academy and HOllywood in general hates George Lucas.

I hear ya on that. But it sucks that it's gotta be trimmed down to only 3 up there. Why when there's so much great stuff out there.

What a coup when Lucas chose to keep the merchandizing rights with 20th Century fox back in the 70s.
