Lex-Mas

SPOILER WARNING.

Anyone see this most recent installment of Smallville?

I really enjoyed it. I thought the whole "Christmas Carol" element with Lex as well as the Santa Claus encounter with Clark and Cloe to be a bit trite, but the spirit of his dead mother was a great touch. In a way, this episode represents the birth or beginning of the Lex we know today. He was unable to learn, even with Lana's death, that having loved and known love as well as still having the love of his children is more fulfilling than a solitary life of evil and power. This was an important cross-road for Lex who, for the last few years on the show, has straddled the line between good and evil. Well, his anger and bitterness over the way his fantasy life played out pushed him over the edge. He didn't make the choices his mother begged him to make, and the final scene with her reflection in the hospital window showed he was not in a coma-induced delirium but actually being given spiritual guidance...and failed.

Great episode.

I love the show, never missed an episode, and I thought Lex-mas was a bit different. I agree that a lot of what they tried in the show was trite and even just plain corny and pointless. But the end result was an important one, I have wondered where the show would go after high school. I love the chloe angle and have enjoyed seeing them set up lois becoming an reporter as well as chloe knowing about clark.

But I have truly enjoyed Lex becoming darker and much more of the enemy and becoming evil. From the epidsode with aquaman and many others this year we see the Lex of today forming. And we see the beginnings of todays Lex almost more clearly than we do of Clark Kent.

Like Tet said, what happened was that Lex was shot and while unconscious had a vision of what his life would be like if he renounced his family/fortune and chose the path of good. He married Lana, became a middle class dad, and became Humanitarian of the Year. Jonathan Kent became senator and Clark and Chloe became a couple and both were reporters. Lana died after the birth of their second child in this vision.

Other than the ending, the whole episode was decent.

Actually, I thought the opposite. The ending is what made the episode. It all seemed pretty trite up until then.

Since it was a Xmas episode I passed it up. I don't like holiday themed shows.

By God, I can't believe it came out the wrong way.

What can I say? Oops?

What I meant was what you feel.

That's what I originally meant to type.

The ending was definitely the best part of the episode.

Must've been a brain fart I had.
