The 40-Year-Old Virgin - Revisited

I just got done watching the movie again, having seen it once in the theater. Still very much enjoyed it as before, even with the 2+ hours of length (a rarity with comedies these days). Carell is fantastic, and such a different character then the one he plays on the Office (an amazing TV show, quickly getting as good as the original UK one). I know some members have not enjoyed the spotlight it casts on this hobby, but I don't think the movie really puts it down. I think it asks the question if that at times we get so caught up collecting "thing" that we in some ways stop living our life. Maybe I am just reading too much into, what are your guys thoughts?

I have not seen it yet, but enjoyed him very much in "Anchorman" and "Bruce Almighty", he is fr'kn funny. I have only seen a few eps of the office, but do enjoy that also. He is not your typical Brit w/the stale humor they are known for, but rather a cross between a British funnyman with American dominated "dry" humor.

Anyone get the Unrated version? I forgot to pick it up, but I just wanted to know how much more dirt is in it heh.

I really don't care for the lead character. Yes, he's on the TV show THE OFFICE, which I couldn't even finish watching the first episode. I thought it was absolutely stupid!!!

As for the 40 year old virgin... I went to see it in the movies only because my girlfriend wanted to see it. It has a lot of the same "OFFICE" type of comedy, and at times it's crude. But by the end of the movie I actually liked it better than I thought I would have. At one point in the movie, he has a sincere conversation with the daughter of the girlfriend and the movie has some merit from this scene on.

I don't really like the US version of the Office either. He's also making Evan Almighty next after this. We'll see how that holds up.

Well I did not even watch the first season of US Office because I thought it would suck so bad in comparison to the original. However, I caught a couple of epsiodes of the 2nd season and it really made me laugh. Went and bought the 1st season on DVD and it is now my most-anticipated show to watch each week. The last Christmas episode was absolute classic. It probably helps that I work in an office, so many of the situations ring very true for me.

As far as what is extra in the unrated version, you get to see a couple more breasts and some extra swearing as far as the "dirty" stuff goes, not a 100% what was or was not in the original.
