Alpeis (2011) - A group of people start a business where they impersonate the recently deceased in order to help their clients through the grieving process.
It's a bit of a mystery what the business is about initially, but once it becomes clear, I was all in. And the payoff when it all goes awry at the end is worth it. 8/10

absolutely, shes still a total bombshell
The Dark Crystal (1982) - First time seeing this one, I always thought the puppets would be creepy, they kind of are but oddly the creepiest ones were the 2 heroes and not the monstrous bird like villains lol awesome puppet and voice work as to be expected in a movie directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz. Overall I enjoyed the movie but I felt like something was missing that would have made it better, maybe if the story was a bit more fleshed out. Perhaps I need to watch the Netflix series to get some more background - 7.5/10
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989) - An old favorite of mine that I watched all the time growing up, I remember being so impressed with all the effects work they did, and it still holds up today. Overall just a really fun movie, I loved the scenes with the Antie the Ant, and the giant cookie lol fun note, I just realized that this movie was directed by Joe Johnston, the same guy who directed Captain America: First Avenger, The Rocketeer, October Sky, Jumanji and Jurassic Park 3 - 8/10
Hour of the Wolf (1968) - I dont even know if I should be rating this movie as I can't say I got the whole experience, this movie is really hard to find on DVD so I got a korean bootleg with english subtitles, but many scenes didnt have subtitles, and the ones that did have subtitles lagged and didnt show up on the screen until about 5-10 minutes after the scene had already passed, so I was trying to cobble everything together but it kind of ruined the experience, and sadly I dont understand Swedish lol from what I could piece together it seemed like quite a mind trip of a movie, which are usually the kind of movies I like best, and I love pretty much all of Ingmar Bergman's movies, he was quite the genius director and way ahead of his time. I could definitely see some directors were influenced by this movie, definitely David Lynch with Eraserhead and some of his other works - I'd like to say 9/10 but I guess ?/10

Worth a watch . Really good for any young girls in the house. Millie Bobby Brown has an oscar in her future not from this film but eventually.

Girlhouse 5/10
Standard horror movie with modern internet porn back drop. Cutting off a girls fingers so she can't type where she is to web cam fans watching in disbelief is kind of...something.

Had a René Laloux marathon, 3 awesome and trippy animated science fiction movies...
Fantastic Planet (La Planète Sauvage)(1973) - This one is about small human like creatures called Oms who live as pets for the much larger blue-skinned creatures called Draags. Things change when an Om is enlightened by a young Draag, and the Oms rebel against their captors. Can they live in peace or will they destroy each other? Out of the 3 movies this one had the least traditional animation which really worked for it, the backdrops were beautiful and a joy to see, and although the animation was not nearly as fluid as his later works, it was very serviceable to the story and as far as visuals alone probably the most detailed - 8/10
Time Masters (Les Maîtres du Temps)(1982) - This one is about a young boy named Piel who is stranded on a planet after his parents are killed by savage wasp-like alien creatures. Thankfully his father left him a way to communicate with Jaffar who is an adventurer and friend of Piels father. Jaffar convinces the current passengers on his ship (an exiled treacherous prince and a kind princess) that they need to go off course to save Piel. Along the way they pick up an old technician who is familiar with the planet Piel is on, maybe a bit too familiar. This one is my favourite of the three, I thought these characters were the most well developed and interesting of the 3 movies and I was really absorbed into the story, it had some great twists. This one is probably the only one of the 3 movies that could be considered 'family friendly' and I'd say the animation was the most straight forward of the bunch probably for that reason, but overall it really worked - 9/10
Gandahar (1987) - This is probably the most popular and well known of these 3 movies. Its about a beautiful utopian world called Gandahar which is ruled by a council of women. The residents of Gandahar have known nothing but peace and tranquillity for years until one day a threat from 1,000 years in the future attempts to put a stop to all that. The council decides to send Sylvain, the son of the Queen, to investigate this threat, which includes an army of soulless black robots that have the ability to turn the people of Gandahar into stone, then transform them into robots to join the ever growing robot army. Along the way Sylvain teams up with the adventurous and beautiful Arielle to try and understand the threat and determine a way to destroy it. This one is a lot of fun, had lots of very, very strange visuals, but was great at depicting the nature vs technology debate, I wouldnt be surprised if James Cameron took inspiration from this movie for Avatar as they had a lot of similar visuals and themes. I really enjoyed the time travel aspect as well, including a very cool looking door through time - 8.5/10
