Light and heat damage is cumulative and irreversible.
The energy absorbed in these interactions causes chemical reactions that produce deterioration in paper, inks, dyes, pigments, etc. Fading is only a superficial indication that
real physical and chemical damage has occurred.
These reactions can be even more damaging if other environmental factors contribute; for example, for every 14-degree-Fahrenheit rise in temperature, the deterioration rate of paper (and likely other organic materials) doubles.
I personally don't value the boxes very highly, but if you do, protect them as you would your collectible, i.e. away from UV light and heat sources.
