Btw, how did you fare? I see you're in Houston. Everything ok?

No immediate flooding in my house. Water came up to the door at my house. My uncle's car was submerged and most of the folks on the 1st floor of his apartment complex lost everything (the complex is right next to a bayou).
Like OC said, had Houston tried to evacuate more folks would've been at risk and a large number of them would have drowned on one of our many freeway underpasses that flooded. When Rita hit years ago, they tried to evacuate the city and folks were stranded on the roadways.... but we ultimately dodged a bullet then.
A good friend of mine lives on Miami Beach and the best he and his family could do now was to evacuate inland to Kendall (with other family). They couldn't get a flight out and they didn't want to risk driving North and running out of gas.

Here is a cool image of the entire planet during Sept 6th.
There is another one coming in behind it as well. These next few weeks could get pretty crazy for a lot of people.

Yep, I'm hunkered down in North Palm Beach to the west of 441. Though with the new trach that's probably not a good thing. But we have shutters and supplies so we should be okay.
