You posted the wrong base for this. T1000 is the chromed one.

Yup. Unless it was just a temporary thing for whatever reason, this is actually what the T-1000 is standing on.

Odd they would show the chrome base and then have him on the other.

The chrome base has elements of the T-800, namely the chess armour and pistons to give it that endoskeleton look. Personally I would rather him on the other base as well, but it's not terrible by any means and will probably look great.
