$2500 one TV Plasma or LCD?
Ok, here's the deal. I got a little bonus today ($2500). I would like to get a wall hanging tv. Which model would you go with. Plasma or LCD. I would like at least a 46". I watch more sports than movies. Any and all advice is welcome.

I read yesterday about the pros and cons of both, and the lcd tv sounds like the better deal, but I think 45" is the top size, if you want a bigger set you have to go plasma. If the info I got was correct

I'm with Rick and like the LCD, but considering the depth and that you'd like to hang it on the wall, you can't go wrong with a plasma.
Here you go, my brother!

You can also go with a lesser named brand for cheaper at Costco. As my friend from Taiwan reminds me, there are only three main manufacturers of TV's so if you get one under another name, it's probably mfg by one of the biggies!
But back to Panasonic. I've had my 37" plasma for over a year and it is the best TV I've ever had.
Oh, don't forget to pencil in $400.00 for hardware and professional installation to hang it on the wall.

Definitely a nice hefty LCD. You definitely can't go wrong, especially with that cash to spare. If you want you can even leave some for an HD player!

Sony Bravia - best picture out there. I have one and so does Zurb. Can't recommend it enough. Got mine (32 incher) at Costco for $1400 (I think) or $1600.

I've been on the fence about buying one as well. Of all of the pros and cons, the one that sticks in my mind, is the plasma's have the shortest lifespan.
Conventional TV = 50,000 hours.
LCD = 65,000 hours
Plasma = 24,000 hours.
Personally, I think plasma sets have the best picture, but are the worst investment.

You figure 24,000 hours at 5 hours a day. That's 13 years. I've never had a tv that long. 65000 hours @ 5 hours a day is 35 years. Thats amazing, if accurate.

yeah i am also looking into these 2 options......and i am leaning towards a plasma....... I am still not convinced with LCD (it will get better) still a lot of Pixelation in fast moving images.......... remember each pixel transmites light and if the refresh time is not fast enough you get that bad effect..... plasma not............... so.......... plama = cheaper (older tec)......... but in general imo better color and sharpness quality and bigger size options...................
