Framed Art - Show Me What You've Got

I'm finally getting around to having some of my pieces professionally framed. Most have been living their lives in art preserving folios and I want to enjoy them more. Now that I have the space and the means, I'm eventually going to have several pieces framed so I can put them up behind my statues.

I have ideas of what I want to do, but I'd love to see art pieces that others have gotten framed up. Get some ideas, see how you match the mats to the piece, etc.

The first piece I'm having done is my recently acquired Storm cover. My husband is sweet enough to pay for the framing for my birthday (I don't think he has any idea the cost, more the better for me ). When it's done I will be sure to take pics and post in this thread.

I finally have an office to myself (especially helpful since I work from home full time now) and two of three walls are mostly done. Still some room on my b&w section and the whole other wall but I'll probably reserve that for non-comic art (....maybe). I also don't have a ton of statues so as to maximize the wall space for art.

Definitely makes work more tolerable now I get to look over and see my art

By the way, Demona, your husband is in for a rude awakening But very generous.

Thanks for all the pics, peeps. I do love seeing everybody's collections. I see a common theme of black frames. It's funny that I never look at black frames as my first choice, but I do like all the my frames to be uniform. Maybe black should be the way to go? Guess we shall see.

And nice job on the office, MG. We have done some redecorating because of working from home too. My geek room has remained untouched as I refuse to put an office in my happy place!

Oh you're right that he has no idea. Figure it will be about the cost of some of the statues he gets me. I try to make it easy on him by being an easy person to shop for and picking out half my own gifts.

Just gotta try to do one at a time. I started framing up my Foo Fighters concert posters so I could hang them at work. So worth it because it makes me happy to go in there (pre-Covid) and I know they will be preserved for a lifetime. I finally got the last two framed up this year and I'm excited to hang them in my office.

I don't know the cost of your local framer. I go to a small business and they charge me around $250-$300 per poster (13x19 up to 18x24). That's for a single mat, UV glass, and a metal frame. I had to do them one at a time as budget allowed.

I've had smaller, not one-of-a-kind art done at Michaels and it's turned out well too!

I made all frames black but almost all are different from each other and kept mattes black as the theme of this wall is obviously the black costume Spiderman ( with one exception the mirror in middle row ). I didn’t want any colour on this wall . The suit makes for high contrast in black and white so I added to that in framing as well . Two spots left at the top ( John Byrne & Clayton Crain ) that should do it .

Ceiling is 10 ft

Artists on wall:

Rick Leonardi
Mike Zeck
Ron Frenz
Gabriele Dell’Otto
Jae Lee
Jamie Biggs ( entire middle row )
Angel Medina
Greg LaRocque
Charles Vess
