Unfortunately Dreamwalker all but confirmed in the Ask Gentle Giant thread that the clear cubes will be present in the final version.

I think the main issue with these clear bases are that they scratch. They should have clear pads on the bottom of them. Like the pads included on most statues.

I don't mind the clear disc bases but the BW one makes zero sense and actually looks ridiculous. I'm hoping it's either crates, boxes or some rock formation.

Then they are really smoking something. It looks like she's in the danger room or something.

Yeah, I hope they reconsider. I am OK with the clear base and actually like it but the clear cubes really don't go with the piece and don't make any sense imo. I guess all we can do is wait and see what happens.

Wow...they can't be serious about it....clear bases are ok, but with this pose you need Something "solid" to be under the boots.....if not... why not a Clear statue then???

.i mean..if you can have a clear base, AND clear crates..then you can have a clear statue too...and a pricey one that is.

I like the clear acrylic bases myself. No more worrying about statues not matching up with one another, the characters are on the same level when displayed and most importantly it keeps the focus on the statue.
The problem with the bottom's getting scratches can be easily remedied by applying some clear acrylic/rubber bumpers to the underside of the base as soon as you open it. A pack of 20 of those will run you about $5.
