I think Marc's just very laid back and comfortable with where he is in life right now. He genuinely enjoys talking to fans, taking photo's, and shooting the ---- with people about nothing in particular. And I think running his own company that houses household names is something he's gladly willing to handle and not stress over, like say Jim Lee does with DC comics.
Matter of fact, last year a friend of mine asked me to get a sketch from Marc at SDCC of Hulk with the beard that he had drawn (then) recently. I hadn't been following the series, so my friend asked me to ask Marc why he left after only three or four issues. Marc casually told me "When I use a Marvel character in my book (I think it was Wolverine and Witchblade) I do some books for them as a gesture of thanks." Hell, a couple years back I got on his commission list and this month was the first time I had ever seen him post up images of commission work he was finally tackling for fans off the same list.
I just don't think he wants unneeded stress, and he's in a place where he doesn't have to have it. I say good for him, cuz he's such a nice guy and while it may take him outta the spotlight of "uber artists" like Jim Lee and Campbell, he's certainly no less talented and important to the industry than they are.
