Jim Lee Original?

Hi guys

New to the forum here. What are your opinions on this sketch with ink and water colors that just got sold on ebay? Is it original? Thoughts?

Thank in advance.

It doesn't look like any piece by Lee that I've ever seen. The signature isn't like any Lee sig that I've seen either.

This would have to be a really old piece as Jim Lee hasn't signed like that since his days on Punisher War Journal. Also, I can't help but wonder if that might be someone else's "watercolor effect" on his original pencils as that watercolor look doesn't strike me as his style at all. Until Jim Lee confirms this is his work, I'd consider this purchase a bit on the risky side.

Very dubious IMHO. I would NOT pay “Jim Lee money” for this piece personally. I haven’t seen any Jim Lee art like this. I don’t follow his art closely so this is just speculation but I would be cautious on this one.

Is there a way to contact Jim Lee for authentication of his pieces?

Exactly. This is what threw me off. Even the new sketches he just just released at SDCC for Harley Quinn 50 only had some color.

send jim or eddie choi a tweet. they are pretty good at responding to fake inquiries.

in general for jim lee ebay pieces if your gut tells you its a fake I would steer away. jim's 'fakes' are amongst the most prevalent of fake sketches that get sold.
