Manned Mars Mission - Inspiration Mars - Mars One

Space Tourist to Announce Daring Manned Mars Voyage for 2018 | Wired Science | Wired.com

Millionaire spaceflier reportedly plans private mission to Mars in 2018 - Cosmic Log

Hoping this awesome news is true against all odds. Though I still wish NASA was the first one embarking on this manned mission in the first place.

I believe in this happening by 2018 as much as I believe we will be getting a live action JLA film by 2015.

What do you mean Tet? They've already confirmed David Cronenburg as director and Will Smith as the Martian Manhunter. Also talks with Robert DeNiro to play both Batman and Wonder Woman are going well.

Yes, this thread now has Mars three times in its title . While some of those marketing idiots at Hollywood continue to suggest that studios should avoid any reference to Mars in their movie titles.

Not sure what is the status on Inspiration Mars, but I have been catching up on the plans and updates of Mars One, which appears to be more promising for now.

Over 200,000 apply to first ever recruitment for Mars settlement - Mars One
After US, the second largest number of applicants were from India. Though I wonder if anyone from India will actually get selected.

I knew getting selected for the final round would be highly unlikely, but I still wanted to be part of the selection process. But I didn't complete my Mars One application in time. Maybe next time then.

Of course there are lot of skeptics out there, who suggest this is a scam cause they take money from applicants. Still I believe in Mars One. They explained how the fees varies depending on the applicant's nationality. The price is set based on gross domestic product per capita of each nation, for US I think it was $38, I paid $7 but didn't complete my submission. I don't mind it and will even consider donating in the future.

Honestly, the questions/comments by the panel are just plain stupid. Gang raped?

Yeah that was just ridiculous, but Kellie made the best of her air time to get the positive message about the project as much as possible.

Although I would never do it, I surely understand how some people would be willing to give up everything for this. It is a totally different mindset and dream. Didn't seem any of the panelists get that.
