Land Ho! (2014) - A pair of former brothers-in-law embark on a road trip through Iceland.

I liked this a lot. The brothers-in-law made a great 'Odd Couple'. And Iceland looked stunning of course. 8/10

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

As I enjoyed watching the movie at the theater by myself, I decided to give it another try at home with my wife. Undoubtely I can say that the second viewing was much better than the first.

The CGI is gorgeous and the visuals are outstanding. The action sequences are a treat to the eye. The narrative is non linear with a few throwbacks to the past, but it is none convulsive or confusing to those unfamiliar with the franchise. I love the comedic vibe that Garfield gives to Spidey. He really portraits the character and his legendary New York wit well.

Although the villains leave a lot to be desired, the relationship between Peter and Gwen (Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone) is the highlight of the entire movie. It is definitely a love story that reaches a "Romeo and Juliette" climax with a lot of tact and respect for the source material. I believe that nothing else could have been done better to approach one of the most tragic events in Comic Book history, than the way done here. Definitely the sequel is better than the first film by a small margin, but a step forward nonetheless.

7.5/10 - Very Good

Ninja Turtles 7/10
Didn't mind the update at all. The characterization was awesome and I even liked the re-envisioned April,(and Fox in the role). It was a fun ride that the whole family enjoyed. We are not huge Turtle heads but I know the lore well.

The only part I didn't love was Shredder; thought he was too over the top appearance and abilities wise. I appreciate that they needed to make him a plausible threat for the Turtles though.

i agree with everything you said. but i liked how Shredder was. and i liked how he looked over the top and abilities wise. the one thing i didn't care for or would have liked to have seen done better was the military style of the foot clan. would have liked to have seen them more stealthy like ninjas as they should have been. where they mixed up the militarily style and their ninja abilities.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013)

Definitely a good romp. Smaug was the coolest part. Really liked the addition of Evangeline Lilly. Great to see some ole favorites too, McKellen and Bloom. I gave this movie a half point just for Lee Pace (Thranduil) being in it.

Maleficent: 6/10 - Visually this was very nice, but I just found it a bit boring to be honest. And I didn't like the way the story was told (Maleficent's origins and her 'personal journey'). And Jolie was too shouty.
