His costume does look almost exactly like the New 52 Shazam costume, so I wonder what people would rather see than Shazam in his costume? Would a black leather jump suit be preferred? It seems to me that most comic book film fans have wanted characters to look like they do in the comics, so this reaction confuses me just a bit. Besides that, Captain Marvel/Shazam used to be called, "the Big Cheese." I think he looks great, and hope this film turns out to be fun! I like the comparison to Ant Man and the Wasp. Let's see if DC can deliver something comparable...

If it was a Marvel movie, the costume wouldn't bother me but knowing that it's DC, yikes.

Not sure I understand. Would you rather it have the over stuccoed wall look of the Synder Batman Costume or the Tron Cosplay reject look of the JL Flash Costume?

To everyone saying he looks cheesy, have you ever read Shazam? One of his his main villains is a worm. His pal is named Tawny a talking tiger. I love the "cheesiness" of Captain Marvel. Those old comics were geared for children and maintained an air of purity. I'm sick of the brooding DC characters which Miller popularized with the Dark Knight. Not every character has to sulk and be personally tormented. For example the current Superman sucks with his moodiness, gone are the days of innocence and incorruptibility. Time for characters like Plastic Man and Shazam to lighten things up.

I never thought I'd be excited for a Shazam movie of all things, but this genuinely looks like a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to seeing it.
It's also nice to see DC take a chance on a character that most people would probably consider to be too old fashioned or goofy for modern times. I think a little silliness is exactly what the DC universe desperately needs.
