The amount of fabric here just makes it look cheap. With such a simple pose it might as well be a red cloth on top of a box with a sculpted arm and head

But... that’s what they look like.

Honestly how this is a negative if you're a star wars collector is beyond me. A 1/4th scale Royal guard is amazing to add to a Star Wars Collection. How the fabric is done is a legit concern but I've always thought Star Wars statues tend to work well with mixed media. Anyway I'm excited enough might not be a day 1 but I can't see not adding this to my Star Wars statues.

Maybe you have a part of an answer in your own post:

Of course it is, since the fabric is 80% of this statue, if we can still call that a statue.
And it's a PF, will it be the price of a PF... Probably, and unless these guards have beautiful sculpted underwears or better an armour...

It's your opinion, not a consensus.
I always thought these guards were impressive on a screen, but just look like big red asparagus in figure/statue form in such a static pose. For me, probably an aesthetic that is better suited to a life size format than a smaller one.
Maybe with a more dynamic pose... Because, believe it or not, sometimes, these guys move.

Since no one posted yet, Sideshow just did a blog on it. $500 seems a bit steep to be honest. But I guess it has the extra Star Wars tag that will jack up the prices... I don't expect this will have a huge edition size.

This PF made me chuckle a bit. This almost looks homemade. Yes, they DO look like that, but there is no way this is worth close to a statue like Wolverine or Logan, which are like $50 more. It looks extremely cheap.

I agree, this PF should be 250ish. 500$ is way to steep.

Ssc must be laughing for asking $500 for this. If it sells out, they will make more of these kinds of statues lol.

I actually like this piece. Pose is simple, but it still brings presence to this statue (The bright reds catch my attention). That's how the Royal Guards were portrayed. Escorting/Guarding the Emperor. Overall, it works.
However, I do agree with the comments on that price tag. $500 is definitely too much.

IT looks brilliant, if you didn't know it was a statue you'd think it was a shot from an on screen costume test.
Of course it's $500...they still have to cover license fees, factory costs, production, sculptor costs, cut and sew costs, they still got to make a profit etc etc and all the other stuff that no one thinks about...$250 you guys are dreaming.
If you want a 1/4 Royal Guard this is it, this is what you wanted...actually you want 2 of them to display with your emperor...

Exactly. To gauge interest, SSC should have offered a deal where if you buy two, you get 10% off (so $900 for a pair).
