DC still struggling
http://heroicuniverse.com/how-far-th...gles-continue/
Interesting what they say is selling more comics from Marvel. More #1's, Continuity stories. All the things I see people here complaining about.

Does Marvel really play up continuity all that much more than DC?
I mean Secret Wars while still somewhat continuity filled only used that as a stepping stone to essentially WIPE OUT all their prior universes (though it'll return them in some semblance of their former selves).
Squirrel Girl while cute is pretty much out of continuity or at least a highly goofy take on whatevers actually happening.
And Spider-Gwen one of its bigger books in attention these days is completely its own new world.
But it's also not really new to see Marvel taking DC out. Especially when Marvel has Secret Wars and its dozens of tie-ins going on or now being followed up on.
And now all the books are relaunching at #1 in Marvel.
There's nothing really new to the data that should surprise someone.
I mean they even have Invincible Iron-Man that double shipperd that month on the list.
#1 sold 279,514
#2 sold 66,664
Not a number to sneeze at for its second issue but still a huge drop.
Marvel's doing what it always does. Putting out a huge number of new books and seeing what bites and saturating the market. And regularly making #1's.

Though I do think one bit in particular the person stepped onto was right.
The new Adventures of Superman book is great but damned if people know it's happening at this point.
It's a shame too. I see it going the way of Doomed sooner or later.

Even tho i havnt bought a comic book since infinite crisis and house of m, i would still be reading in trades or other sources if they didn't reboot the whole DC universe.

I cut way back on my comic book purchases. All I buy now is: Batman, Detectice Comics, Spawn and The Walking Dead.
I was gonna buy the new Amazing Spider-Man # 1, but couldn't swallow the $6 cover price.

I also do more trades and Omnibus' than single issue comics. Only single issue comics I buy anymore are for investment. 1st appearances and early issues.

agreed, when im buying my DC trades these days, the second I see that damned "new 52" on the cover I instantly pass. Worst idea ever by DC. I only buy trades of pre new 52 comics. Marvel universe isnt much better though, their universe has been unrecognizeable to me long before DC even did the new 52

I only by TPBs HC and Omnibus comics.
I buy back issues from the 80s and 90s that are not collected in any way. Even that is a long time ago, collected editions have first priority.

Marvel has always honored continuity (though not really well sometimes) more so than DC. The Marvel Universe has always been more cohesive and interesting than DC's. As far as Star Wars, obviously, they're both owned by Disney so Marvel has the obvious advantage, especially with the interest in the movie so high.
