DC Direct / DC Collectibles Statue Lines Scales

I see a lot of confusion and mis-information about statue scales. The most common mistake people make is using overall height, counting the base, when determining scale. You have to measure from the bottom of the foot heel to the top of the head for a true height. If a statue isn't standing or lying straight, you have to measure the lower legs, the thighs, the torso, and the neck/head separately, then add each separate measurement for the true height.

Spoiler

DC Collectibles was called DC Direct from 1998 to 2012. Many of their medium-sized statues were either 1/8- or 1/7-scale depending on the project, but since 2018, it appears that DC is focusing on the 1/7-scale. Re-issues of 1/8-scale statues remain 1/8-scale.

--------------------------------------------------

6 feet = 72 inches

1/2 scale = 36 inches
1/3 scale = 24 inches
1/4 scale = 18 inches
1/5 scale = 14.4 inches
1/6 scale = 12 inches
1/7 scale = 10.3 inches ("Bowen" scale)
1/8 scale = 9 inches
1/9 scale = 8 inches
1/10 scale = 7.2 inches
1/11 scale = 6.55 inches
1/12 scale = 6 inches

1/8, 1/7, and 1/6 scales:

--------------------------------------------------

1/4-scale
"Museum" Statues: DC made 1/4-scale statues of a few characters -- Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern Hal Jordan, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Joker.

1/6-scale
Designer Series individual statues
Movie statues (though these are on the big side for 1/6-scale, and the Green Lantern Ryan Reynolds statue is probably 1/5-scale)
DC TV statues

1/7-scale
Designer Series multi-character dioramas
DC Bombshells
DC Cover Girls, 2018-onwards (Wave 4 Joelle Jones onwards)
Gotham City Garage
Battle statues (2017-onwards, excepting re-issues)
DC Core PVC

1/8-scale
DC Cover Girls, 2009 - 2017 (Waves 1 - 3)
DC Icons
Arkham videogame statues
pre-2018 multipart dioramas
most pre-2017 Battle statues

1/9- or 1/10-scale (inconsistent, depends on the artist and sculptor)
Batman: Black & White
Superman: Man of Steel
Wonder Woman: Art of War
Harley Quinn: Red/White/Black
Designer Series Mini versions
DC Artists Alley PVC figures

1/11- or 1/12-scale
Teen Titans multipart diorama (2018)
Bat-family multipart diorama (2019)
DC Chronicles
DC Universe Online

This pic posted by jeremydmc has a really good mix of scales:

Here's the freakishly oversized Ryan Reynolds statue:

TDKR Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) is still 1/6, just "short" due to the crouching pose:

Don't let "flying" / "floating" poses or raised arms deceive you!

Starfire: 1/8 Artgerm, 1/7 Bombshells, 1/6 Designer

The old Cass Cain statue could pass for either 1/7- or even 1/6-scale. She's definitely big for a character her size (she's short in the comics).

Not a bad statue, all things considered. I wouldn't mind a freakishly oversized Ryan Reynolds...statue.

Distracted by Green Lantern but a nice statue. Gargoyle looks a bit miffed, though.

I was actually referring to the small Batman with blue cape in the background.

OK but I'm still looking at Green Lantern.

I forgot to include the Arkham line in the OP when I created this thread. That line is 1/8-scale and includes several characters that didn't get any other 1/8-scale statues. They mix/match fine with several other lines.

In the small line of colored statues that Arkham Knight got I'm really upset there wasn't an Arkham Knight Harley to complete the trilogy. Yes, here I am, Harley Quinn, complaining another Harley Quinn statue wasn't made. Sue me.

(And no I am not buying the Prime 1 version)
