Comics that inspired the Avengers movie
A friend asked me to put together a reading list for issues that inspired scenes or were referenced for the Avengers movie.
So far I've got;
The Ultimates vol I
Earth Mightiest Heroes vol I
Iron Man vol I. 118, 119
Iron Man vol III, 64 and Avengers vol III. 63 (Thorbuster appearance)
Marvel Two-in-One 41
Anything else that the movie reminded you of?

I don't see Ultimates in this film. Feels pretty 616 to me, right down to characterization (other than Fury, that is).

I love how "Avengers" this movie is. I went in fearing "Ultimates" and didn't get that at all.

Yeah, but I thought that was because the Skrulls are being held by Fox which still has rights to the FF, not because it was inspired by The Ultimates.

The alien invasion and Nick Fury are primarily what made me include the Ultimates. Some of the designs from the comic, the Hulk cage, are also similar enough to make me think they modeled the set after the comic.
