Sideshow shipping DHL to Canadians

Sideshow has been using DHL to ship to Canadians lately and while for the last 15 years have always received items via FED EX and paid REALISTIC FEES and taxes..............DHL is out to lunch and totally ripping off canadians expecting there items from sideshow.

I bought a simple MOTU original skin Evil lynn. After the dollar change to CDN, the statue came to a $435 total. ON that amount, the taxes of 13% is around $55cdn approx. DHL wanted to charged me almost $140cdn on a product worth $435cdn. THATS $95 for .....................................what, bond fee? inspection fee? assessmet fee? YOU TELL ME! I refused this as Fed Ex would never try and rip me off with unfair fees. If I went to sideshow HQ and bought the statue, and then came across the border, the border would pull me over, convert the money to cdn and I would pay the taxes of 13% because I live in ONTARIO and we pay more than the rest of the Country. Again that amount would come to $55 approx and Id be on my way......

But DHL wants almost a $100 cdn for what, looking at the box??? I talked to sideshow, and they agreed it did not sound right. They are taking the statue back and refunding me simply because I asked BEFORE for them to never send DHL on future orders, and they did again, and they tried to rip me off.

I work hard for my money, so its the principle. I asked for a quote to ship for fed ex and I know what kind of taxes and fees they charge. So glad I had my half scale stuff sent to my sisters in usa, I only paid tax on it when crossing. Through DHL based on this last shipping, I would of paid around $1000cdn to get that statue.....................What a crock.

Any other CDNS having same type of problems recieving shipments from DHL with absurd charges? If so, you have to let SIDESHOW KNOW! Cant believe it. $140cdn for an item worth $435 cdn. Only a fool would pay that!

They changed about a year ago.

I’ve only had one shipment in that time though, and the fees didn’t seem to be too different.

Something definitely went wrong there. That’s crazy.

(Also we pay 15% in Quebec.)

Gosh it sucks living in Canada in a situation like this. DHL charges “service fee” as well.I have to pay for about 25 CDN everytime I receive something abroad if DHL carries them even if the item is worth less than 60 CDN. This never happens if the carrier is EMS.

I've requested that Sideshow continue to use FedEx for me.

DHL does have a brokerage fee, but it should only be $15-$25.

I'm about to get a 1/6th from DHL...I was quite surprised as my last few came in with FedEx and that was just in the last couple months. I'm not looking forward to the invoice I'll be getting...

I totally agree that DHL rips people off. Thankfully, I asked SS to keep me with FedEx and still get items from them.

I had a custom piece shipped to me from Spain and the value put on customs form was $20 US. DHL charged me $21+ in fees for it.
