If they are going to add extra legs, keep it to 4. That way he has the same number of limbs as a spider.
I'd vote for comic accuracy (3 mech legs), but I have no real horse in this race. I read the comics but don't collect male statues.

2017 for these. I'm thinking the last statue that will probably make it out this year is Mysterio. 2016 is going to be tame compared to 2017. I expect people's mind will be blown by what's coming in 2017 and beyond. I just hope the statue market continues to thrive.

I don't know much about Iron Spidey but always thought the SS statue was really cool. I'm sure this one will be awesome too.

No because at least 4 would make him have 8 limbs like a spider. 5 is just random.
Still think 3 is the way to go though. Costume details are one thing but changing the core design/functionality of the character is another.
