Interpol - Interpol
Doesn't have the same feel as their previous releases, but is still quite impressive. It has a sort of lonely feel to it, which I've always loved in music, as I find loneliness somehow comforting. I love it more every time I listen to it.

it really descends towards the end of the album doesn't it? Night and day difference between the first 5 songs and the second. The last song (The Undoing) is slowly becoming my favorite track. So dark and sorrowful. A beautifully layered song.

I love that song! The sound reminds me of a song in my memory, yet I am unable to put my finger on exactly what that is. To me, this album has a similar feel to many of the bands I loved in the 80's. I almost feel like I am busting out some of my old favorites.

I hear ya. I get the same familiar feel from it and the entire album for that matter. Its probably one of the reasons its resonating with me as much as it is.
One of the things that sucks with this album and the last is the amount of critical bashing the group has taken. Personally I like how Interpol has evolved as a band. While their earlier work drew comparisons to bands like Joy Division and The Chameleons I think they've come into their own with Our Love to Admire and Interpol. Sometimes I think people (especially critics) expect bands to try and recapture the magic of their earlier work instead of evolve. I know a lot of people are acting like Interpol has lost their touch and their future is in jeopardy with the departure of Bassist Carlos Dengler. I'm a bit more optimistic.
