The original Batman sculpt would have sold like crazy. Why the hell it was EVER reworked is beyond me. Moronic move. Totally moronic if it was done by choice and not a requirement (like was originally stated).

I'd pay extra to get a character in 1/4 statue form that we don't normally get ...like Star Sapphire and Polaris.
Makes you kinda wonder why they don't do a kickstarter for those characters that they deem "not profitable". And if that 1/4 statue proves to be very popular, then set an ES and sell a variant of it. The collectors that help with the kickstarter are the only ones that get the original.

The torso is similar but the legs pose is basically flipped and instead of swayed forward it?s swayed back. As a result the cape is different even though the same general direction. And the base is more aggressive.
I don?t know if they?ve ever stated why the change happened. Might be several reasons. Maybe they wanted an upright Batman since most of his comic based ?normal costume? 1/4 statues are hunched or leaning forward.
I did prefer the original, I remember my immediate reaction to seeing the revised one and I was a little underwhelmed in comparison to the original, but overall I do still like the revised one. I don?t think the sculpt is bad at all. I really think it?s the paint that hurts this sculpt.

thank you Peedi
I can see why people liked the first one better=looking at both they are both good statues but I have to say that the first base was better-as for the statue itself the first one had.a Neal Adams flair to it.

As others have more or less said, Tweeterhead is a niche company so why not give us “niche” characters? If you give me a Batman or Catwoman, but I’m not crazy about how they look (like these for instance) I’ll just wait for another company to do them again. Now if you offer me a statue of a once in a lifetime character, like Star Sapphire, Firestorm, Cassandra Cain Batgirl, etc. how could I resist?! Crowdfund if necessary.

Everyone has their own niche characters, so sure, people will get excited about Firestorm...but it will be like 50 people. Crowdfunding won't keep the company afloat at that point.

If you don’t like the sculpt?
I can’t speak for everybody but personally if a once in a lifetime character I extremely want gets made and I don’t like the sculpt, f**k that statue.
Hopefully if those characters get made, they’re great though. It only takes the right media exposure to propel an obscure character…Guardians, for example.

And god forbid it's the character you want but in the wrong costume.

This is where/how Kickstarter would work. You show the sculpt and you say what the colors will be. Then you let the crowd fund it.
The goals are made - then the statue is. There is no hiding what it MAY be. Go get approval before showing it to us, just like now. Except buyers aren’t waiting on a sneak peek for YEARS just to throw their hands up. Instead, it’s been funded for years and waiting on production.
I have spent plenty of money on items on Kickstarter and happily waited. Board games, tech, clothing…why not statues?
Also the beauty of Kickstarter is - there is no canceling. Once your money is in, it’s locked. The fickle half-assed collectors always talk big game, but never pay out can’t skew the design. Money talks on Kickstarter.
Stretch goals can be added on pieces or portraits. A poster. Free shipping. Whatever. Or none at all.

Actually surprised we haven?t moved towards more of a direct crowdfunding model in this hobby. Yes, we have MTO but it?s a bit obfuscated and not as transparent as kickstarters or other crowdfunding campaigns are.
I?ve funded 50 or so in my time, and 90% have delivered something - mostly video games, comics, or board games. A few complete ghosting?s but that?s rare. And I?ve mostly been happy with the quality of what?s come.

Yea, I'm the same way. The sculpt has to be great for me to get it.
