The Wolverine - The Official SF Thread
Stated Aronofsky: "As I talked more about the film with my collaborators at Fox, it became clear that the production of ‘The Wolverine’ would keep me out of the country for almost a year. I was not comfortable being away from my family for that length of time. I am sad that I won't be able to see the project through, as it is a terrific script and I was very much looking forward to working with my friend, Hugh Jackman, again."Stated Twentieth Century Fox: "While we are of course disappointed that Darren can’t do ‘The Wolverine’, we also understand and respect his reasons. Having done both ‘The Wrestler’ and ‘Black Swan’ with Darren, we know he is an extraordinary talent and we look forward to working with him on other projects in the future. Hugh Jackman and Fox both remain fully committed to making ‘The Wolverine’. We will regroup and move forward aggressively."Also, THR reports that studio is moving forward with the upcoming sequel and trying to find a new director: Fox and Hugh Jackman - who is set to return in the title role - said they remain fully committed to making Wolverine and will move aggressively to find a new director. Fox hadn’t yet greenlit the sequel. A significant portion of the movie will be shot overseas (there had been plans to shoot in Japan).

I can't really say I care to be honest.

I care. This would have been a great Wolverine movie... finally. But now, it'll likely just be mediocre. Oh well.

I never liked Hugh Jackman as Wolverine so I don't care for this movie at all.

I think the guy is over rated and this would have been very artsy. Get Robert Rod to direct it.

That would be F'N awesome!!!!
It's a shame Aronofsky had to back out. I was really looking forward to this one.
Hopefully, the script is as good as they say it is.
I wonder if Ang Lee would be given a shot.
I always felt his Hulk movie is a lot better than what many people thought.

I very much agree
since this is a blockbuster title I have a feeling that report is bull crap. Darren wanted out probably because he was being pushed around by Fox to do this against his will. Thats my guess.
I will go streaking if Darren takes over the Daredevil project, doubtful, but that would be a dream come true.

I agree Requiem is one of the most over rated films IMO
but never the less he is a good director, and much better than most directors of superhero movies these days. Only third behind Nolan and Raimi IMO
