The Blair Witch Project did zero for me.
I watched it, it was ok. It felt like one long stint in the woods followed by a quick rush of action in some building..
I'm still not quite sure what was in the building?

The Exorcist. Hands down.

Followed by Jaws.

Seriously though, Poltergeist.

The clown under the bed? Forget it.

Seems like for years I would run and jump into the bed because I was scared to stand near the edge.

Hereditary is completely unnerving and a great slow burn. And there is one truly holy ****” moment and you’ll know it when you see it.

The original Funny Games is nuts, Eden Lake has a disturbing ending that’ll stay with you, and like others said The Exorcist is the scariest movie I’ve seen too. Also Jaws and the movie Mother’ Day scared me to death and Zelda in Pet Sematary freaked me out when I was young.

Horror movies are like comedies as people respond differently to the same material. I don’t find any movie “scary” and being startled by a “jump scare” doesn’t count. I like the creepy factor and terror of some movies. Alien and JC’s The Thing are the kind of terror stuff I like. Also recommend the Sixth Sense (it was’t spoiled for me when I saw it), IT chapter one and Evil Dead 2. Saw was also good before everyone else copied it and it bad sequels. I have never seen The Shining so that’s next on my list.

Oh jump scares count...when someone says to me after a horror movie "Oh that wasn't even scary!" Really! cause you jumped 6 times during it lol. I get what you're saying when it comes to the creep factor of a movie cause that is a must in order to make it scary for me. Just the music from Halloween alone gives me chills to this day still.
