His response:
"I did see Gerry's
e-mail, I think he may have written me on facebook as well. I'm not
purposely avoiding him, though I know not writing him back is the very
definition of it.
Part of it is, he's been very understanding about how long I've taken
with his pieces, and when he's patient with me my brain goes "Okay,
well I've got these other things that need to be done today" and then
all of a sudden it's a year later. It's the worst logic but it's
what's happened time and again. The Dr. Strange I'm working on for him
right now (process pics attached for proof reasons) is the 4th or 5th
time I've restarted the painting because every time I go to finish it
I realize that it doesn't cut the mustard (Gerry's going to be getting
a big package with alllllll of these because I feel I at least owe him
that much). That said, I'm going to finish this one, don't have too
much longer to go.
So anyway, not avoiding him, even though I am."
Trying to help you out, man. Honestly.

Just three for the whole show? Yikes. I don't know if I'll be fast enough for that.
You mentioned smaller pieces and such, what prices are you thinking for those?
Thanks!
(What is happening to your commission list from last year?)

Yup, unfortunately. Just not enough time to do more than three and
actually get them done before the show. I'm hellbent on them being
ready to go that Friday morning.
The smaller pieces, just head/bust sketches, somewhere in the $10/$20
range. Not really sure yet. I still may not even do that. I'll have
the family with me this year and would rather just have a good time.
The commission list from last year, I'm trying my best to work it out
with folks. Some have taken the deal to trade it for a page, or to get
a refund, which I don't mind doing. The others have said they're okay
waiting, or at least they did last time I talked to them. I'm taking a
good chunk of time off this fall and that's when I'm getting every
last lingering thing off my desk.

Well he's already tackled to do some Convergence stuff for DC and then something with Remender and something with Morrison. As well as cover artist. I think it's just a case of biting off more than he could chew. It happens, but damn.

"I would love nothing more than to get Gerry all taken care of. He's
absolutely priority number one when I take that time off, if not
sooner."

Does he think Gerry is going to get any enjoyment out of the art? He must realize that after 6 years with spotty to no communication whatever he produces will be soured by the experience.
