Now, would someone send me some instructions on how to make a cloth cape for Superman. They look AWESOME!
well, here is what i did. i kind of explain how to do it here in the thread i created over in customs corner... http://www.statueforum.com/showthread.php?t=145307

if you take the time and put some thought and work into it its pretty easy to do. hardest part is figuring out the pattern you'll need for the cape and sewing it together.
so if you have someone that can do that for you your stylin.

if you find its too much of a pain in the butt , you could always PM me for details on the capes i make.

The clear pad is the replacement that I added to bring the statue base back to being level. The original pad is still there but is now smashed to the point of non-existence.

FYI, I had to add another clear pad to the back of the statue base as well but it was to difficult to capture on film.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

False alarm. I relooked at the statue and the felt pad on the right side of the statue came off the last time I moved it. I added a new felt pad (actually two to raise it up a bit because of the weight). All is good now. Superman is standing proud and tall. Catastrophe averted.

Hey SF brothers and sisters,

I have some information that I hope will prove helpful to anyone who owns and displays this statue. Sorry if this has already been revealed by someone else.

So, after hearing about the leaning issues I've been compelled to stare at my Superman PF every time I enter my statue room.

I've noticed Zero leaning (as I reported in an earlier post a few pages back).

But.....

The case that he is housed in happens to have a glass bottom, so I can get a nice look at the bottom of the base at eye level. And from underneath if I wished.

Again, my Superman was exhibiting no noticeable lean.

Upon my eye level inspection of the bottom of the base I could easily tell that the 'Cape Side' bottom of the base was noticeably closer to the glass than the opposing side!

The pad wasn't moved or missing, but getting compressed by the weight on the cape side of the statue!

A quick addition of a fresh felt pad put the horizon of the base back on point.

And I can see that the old pad no longer touches the case! It was really getting squished!

So collectors, nip this in the bud before it becomes an issue for you.

I'm hoping to find a shim or coin to place under that side that'll be a permanent solution. Because I'm sure a pad will have to be replaced periodically.

Hope this helps.

or you could just buy rubber pads and not worry about those being compressed.

you should be able to get them at any hardware store. home depot even Michaels has them.

they are called self-stick rubber pads. Scotch/3M makes them, and HD has few that are a different brand but are just as good.
they come in clear also. you can also find them at staples.
