The glass doors are $50 each, so if you get three of them they are more expensive than the Besta itself.

A warning about those 4 x Dioder LED strips. Ikea changed the manufacturer last year and they now have a warm yellow colour. Unless you can hunt down the older model, I recommend avoiding them. I've mix'n matched the older white LEDs with the newer yellow LEDs and it looks nice but I'm not using bestas.

I would post a couple pics but i'm having a pain in the ass trying to figure out why they wont upload!

Anyway i have a 3 floor black Besta with glass doors, and the $24.99 Inreda LED Light.

Here are my Bestas totally at night. In both pictures, the Dioder lights are the ONLY lights on in the room, you can see how bright they really are.

I agree with Northernlamp! Dioder is the best choice for a display case.

Well that explains why I got a different color last time. Thanks man!

I can't take a photo right now because it's daytime but here's one I took a few days ago of one of my two cabinets. Unfortunately it doesn't show the lighting very well.

The lights are set-up as:
  • Bottom - yellow
  • Middle (facing down) - white
  • Middle (facing up) - yellow
  • Top - white
If you look between the two centaurettes (third shelf), you'll notice the striking difference between the old and new Dioder LEDs.

That's pretty frustrating. I am not really a fan of the yellowish bulbs, I much prefer the cooler toned lights.

Me neither and it took a lot of fiddling around until I was happy with the lighting.

Some statues look better under warm light, such as the 1:4 Bison (because of its heavy red) but for the most part they look worse. It changes the perceived colour of the paint. More than any other colour, I think black changes the most. The presence of my Morgul Lord (entirely black) under each light completely changes.

An unseen change that can can only truly be felt first-hand is warmer lights are more humble and better suit the home environment. White lights can sometimes make your collection feel/look too much like a museum display.
