Captain America Omnibus

I'll have to admit, I'm getting hooked on these. It's the way to go back and read some classic comics without having to track down a lot of expensive issues. I've got the first Thor omnibus and ordered the Simonson one. Also picked up the Planet Hulk and Planet Hulk prelude. Now the Cap one is coming and Amazon has it for $54.73.

The first Cap omnibus (reprinting Brubaker issues 1-25) is on its 4th printing. It's an excellent read. BTW, if you or anyone is a stickler for printing editions, you may want to make sure which printing you are getting. As these omnibuseseses are starting to rise in value, I don't think people are aware how many printings there are of them. People may be overpaying for nothing, or not realizing they're not getting first printings.

I agree. Omnibuses are the best full color format that Marvel has to offer. Essentials are great if you want to go cheap and black & white. Omnibuses offer oversized art, letters pages in the Classic versions, and are extremely well priced when you factor in the discounts.

Keith, as an X-Man fan, you should look out for all of the X-stuff that has been and is going to be offered as an Omnibus.

This is what is out and has been announced. There will be more.

Good point. Also, be aware that in some instances of second printings, the second printings are more desirable. For example, the 2nd printing of Amazing Spider-Man and Fantastic Four vol. 1 are sewn, whereas the 1st printings are not sewn. The 2nd printings are superior in that way.

But for the most part, the Omnibuses are gone for good once they are sold out. It's Marvel's current policy to not go back and reprint them. Of course, in the case of Brubaker's Cap, that's a different story.

You sure it's not omnibi?

Great list. Fortunately I have most of the X-men single issues. I figure I'll get around to picking up the FF omnibus.

Great Silver Age stuff for sure. And it'll go nicely with the Classic Thor that you got.

I prefer omnibuseseseses.

P.S. I sold the second FF Omnibi for $190 on the baby a couple of months ago.

That's what they said with the Marvel Masterworks gold foil variant covers too. They've since reprinted a whole slew of them.

Well, I'm not a "collector" of mass produced hardcover books so I don't really care what printing I get.
