As far as the War Troll goes, I look at it like this. The SS/Weta Cave Troll that came out well over a decade now had an ES of 750 which is almost twice the size as the War Troll @ 400, retailed for $300 and sells for 2k+ now (with damage) and that's if you can even find one. I think an argument could be made the War Troll is the more detailed of the two, plus you get a separate helmet with stand. It's a lot of money for sure but I see the value as a long time LOTR collector.

I can’t justify spending $1K on a character that has been on screen for 20 seconds. Other other hand, I will spend that much on the 1/3rd scale Gollum.

Understandable. We all have our preferences. For me, especially when it come to The Hobbit and LOTR, it's all about how much I like the character design. Screen time is irrelevant. For example I'll be buying the Torturer of Gul Dulgur and he wasn't even in the theatrical version of the film. Just a few seconds in the Extended Edition, but he looks sweet, so I want it.

Wow! The fact that this is starting to ship must've pushed interest. Just a few days ago there were 26 left.
I was hoping to hold out placing my order until I saw what Weta had in store for Black Friday. Gonna have to watch this carefully.
