I agree. Why get made up characters from Sideshow when you could get made up characters from DC?

I try hard not to be a Prime 1 groupie since I haven't received any pieces yet, but their stuff does seem to blow most others out of the water.

I don't own a single Prime 1 piece. I do own an XM and several SS pieces.

I stick with my statement - if starting from scratch and wanting Batman - I'd go Prime 1. They love Batman and his rogues/Bat-family while knocking them out of the park.

Now if I wanted X-Men (and do)....XM is where it's at.

I am not asking for someone to make my decision. I was more asking from people that have some of both, and where they feel the greater pieces are. But thanks for contributing in such a useless way.

Otherwise, thanks for the opinions. Still weighing it over.

if youre open to 1:3 scale, prime 1 is dropping some bombs in regards to batman. the upcoming hush line, frank miller bats, david finch bats, even a lot of their arkham designs could be displayed as comic statues even though they are based off the video games.

they have the upcoming lee bermejo line (scale undetermined yet) and also a pretty sweet 1/4 scale jason fabok batman in addition to their 1/4 scale new 52 justice league and 1/4 scale rebirth lines

these properties are so different i think it just comes down to what resonates most with you. i think all these cotd pieces are bad ass and really push the creativity envelope but at the end of the day im not really into horror stuff or things with a sorcery element, im more of a comic book fan

I think I have enough comic characters. So I would choose COTD.

Depends on whether you lean towards collecting for artistic merit or nostalgia.

Most will probably disagree with this, but the longer I collect, the more I lean towards art and away from nostalgia. The reason is, most of the things we're nostalgic about will be made over and over, so the longer you wait, the more options you'll have. 5 years ago there was only one licensed large scale Batman option (that DC Direct 1/4 scale); now there are what, 15-20 with more on the way? So I really see no incentive to jump on any new Batman pieces unless they completely blow me away.

On the other hand, when you buy something because of its artistic merit, it's not really replaceable. Even if the same character is made again, the better art always wins in the long run.

This was an overly convoluted way of saying, maybe forget focusing on one or the other, and just buy pieces from either line that blow you away.

I have both series.

sorry your first post was so greatly explained "If I wanted to focus on complete lines, Batman, or CoTD?" the french in me couldn't anderstand more you ask which one i prefer.

If you still care, i like them both for the reason they are opposite:
- Bat univers because its nice 3d render of a mega well known franchise
- Cotd because its refreshing new IP

If i had to chose only one it would bat because it has better ressell value.
If i don t care about money cotd because its more inventive and oniric.
but if i don t care about money i buy all.

tell us what you will collect when your choice is done.
