I believe the negative posts are absolutely warranted if they are reflective of someone's honest opinion in regards to a piece. However, blatant remarks like "This piece is stupid", are childish and unnecessary.
Sideshow's ability to acquire so many licenses over the years has drawn a massive fan base to their brand. This with their lack of quality control and rising prices have created a lot of sour apples (Sideshow pun intended).

I don't let strangers on the internet affect my opinions or the things I like. It's always nice to share conversations with people who share your passions (and even disappointments if warranted) which is why I keep coming back here. But it doesn't really matter ultimately. We're all different, some like to complain, some like to be overly positive which can also be annoying to others. I try to be constructive if I have a criticism, but I try to be positive as much as possible. But sometimes we can all miss the big picture and get a little too carried away if it's a character we hold close to heart. (cough* P2 maquette, sorry* Ahem)
That said, I don't think this section has been half as bad recently. If you put aside price discussions, which have rightly dominated many threads, sadly at the expense of what might have been incredibly positive conversation as Sideshow have been making some real cool stuff! They have made efforts to improve their production pieces and this has shown in the discussions here. The Chronicle section has been overly negative lately if anything. I've actually seen a lot of positivity in here aimed at Sideshows products... Again, if you ignore the price discussions for the sake of this topic.
I won't vote because there isn't really a suitable option for me. I think it's okay to offer criticisms in a constructive manner sometimes. In all of the various producers sections, but of course some people are OTT and that is not warranted.

I think all art has critics. Sideshow has put up some stinkers lately ie: Deathstroke. I think Sideshow is doing some really messed up things right now that is unfair ie: Star Wars PFs. I also think Sideshow has a long way to go in the customer service department. The fact is, Sideshow is all we have in NA and I just want it to be the best it can be. P1 and XM are doing some amazing things and I just want Sideshow to up their game. They do some things really well. But a lot of it is bad. I've stated before my issues with their shipping costs, their "sales" if you even want to call them that, NRDs etc.
What I don't like is the rude bashing of the art. People put their work into that stuff. It's okay if you don't like it, but say why, actually offer a critique. I also could do without the people who simply say XM is better. If I wanted to pay $500 to ship an item I'd put myself in a box to Hong Kong.

I think there are too many thin skinned people in life nowadays. Also, all the negativity in the Deathstroker PF thread is warranted IMO.

I think there are too many people that think people need to take harsh criticism just because people offer it up. There's a difference between thick skin and watching people bash others work, especially without qualification to do so, just because "internet". Also I disagree that the Deathstroke PF deserves all the criticism it gets, just because it is not what some wanted does not mean that the work should be harshly judged and not taken on its own merit. Someone worked on that piece and it shows it, so because it is not a classic version does not mean the sculpt itself is bad, or that the paint work is bad...it just means it's not preferred version.
So I guess I disagree wholeheartedly.

Negativity seems to be saturating this collectibles market more and more. A few friends and I had to take breaks from this forum because of it. But this forum doesn't come close to the hate and filth on facebook. Some of those groups are nasty. Most of them are started by idiots that think their opinions are the only opinions. Just bullies that want to feel like they have power over something. I had to leave an XM collectible group due to some guys posting pornographic images of women with their statues. It really has been becoming a circus.

You also can't blame people to much about their complaining when prices change monthly... We went from a standard $350 for a PF to $550 for a PF in a blink of an eye. When companies increase their prices that fast of course your going to get complaints...

It is virtually impossible to have civil discussions without rubbing someone in the wrong way, especially since the word "civil" is defined differently by most of the types of posters noted above.
The best way to help maintain any sense of order is to simply own what you say instead of seeming like you speak in accepted facts or for any majority, and to avoid repeating your point of view and turning a discussion into an opinion competition.

I agree with you on Facebook, it's why I discontinued my membership with all but two of the collecting groups, and even those I rarely post in. I actually have found the sculpting groups much more to my liking.

I voted no, and I post less because of it. But that is not true for this forum. More so facebook. I have left several statue pages on facebook because of the douche bags on their. I don't find the forums as.... annoying. I do get very sick of the line "This statue is great because _____, not like a Sideshow statue" where Sideshow always needs to be thrown in as an insult.
Edit - I posted this before reading the thread - nice to see Im not the only one who got sick of these guys on facebook. It's the same 10-12 people as well. I told them all they like to circle jerk each other.
