Darth Maul and Duel of the Fates were 2 things from the prequels that reached the heights of the greatness of the original trilogy.
Unlike most I love other than his short time how Maul was portrayed.
No speeches, no back story, no negotiation, no tiresome unsatisfactory exposition, just the emotional reaction to a villain with a visual appeal rivaling Vader's whose sole purpose is to hunt down and kill. Star Wars's version of a horror movie character.
I just wish he'd kept hunting until the 2nd movie before Obi-Wan took him out.
As much as I love Maul I disregard and ignore all superfluous EU (yes including the Clone Wars cartoons!) material looking to cash in on his popularity as it simply dilutes his appeal.
