Calvin and Hobbes had a massive impact on my childhood and Waterson has been very private since 1995. I'll look into what ever he does.

Just finished it. No spoilers. I “liked” the book. It had a message. Illustrations are great. Small amount of writing, not that there needs to be a lot. Also the book itself is pretty small. It will fit well with my Thomas Ott books.
