I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

So what's the base meant to be? I can't help think that a Droideka might have been more impressive..

This looks like a cool set not including the big Yodas....

Anakin and Paps gotta go though.

This Ahsoka would fit nice except for it being 1/4 scale vs these 1/5.

I like that, a slashed-up droideka would be a cool base. As for what this is, the description simply says "as he leaps through the smoldering, shattered wreckage of a ship's hull"...a bit vague, but there appears to be shards of glass protruding from the inner edge, so I surmise it's a window/portal/door that he cut through.

So Popcultcha just put up pre-orders at $899 AUD, the same price as the Darth Vader Mythos.

No way is this tiny Yoda value for money.

It's probably not worth it, unless you're really desperate for it.

But after the usual 10% off pennies that comes down to $810 AUD, which is about $540 USD shipped. Which is still lower than Sideshows retail price of $595 USD PLUS shipping.

I think you're right definitely not worth it. Even at $540USD shipped it's about 33cm of base and about 10cm of Yoda.

Which is why the only Yoda's I have is the original 1/2 scale, and I've also got the newer one on preorder too.

I am very critical with this piece too, but the reason is not related to the (short) yoda dimension, that's part of the character and there's nothing you can do about it if you have to stay in that scale range.
The problem is the base: there are fantastic bases around (and you can make an argument about how the base's artistic value has increased in the statue market over the last 6/5 years or so) that tell a story and can be merged effectively with the char, adding value.
And this is clearly not one of those: a bunch of space rubber-astromechanical-things that just serves as a pedestal. The concept itself is doomed from the very beginning, despite a very good execution imo.
