So with PayPal and Amazon, preorders are treated as if the item is in stock. I've seen this at a lot of places, not just for things like statues. It might have something to do with the terms each company has in place with the retailer. It's why it can be difficult to get money back on a preorder paid with PayPal if something goes wrong when it comes in stock a year later.
