What's unfortunate is that given how the majority of art fans feel about personalizations, it's a shame artists will intentionally put them on artwork. I can't think of any other product where the person or company producing the product would intentionally add something to the product that you totally do not want on it.

Bizarre breed.

Yes it is odd. I am all for transparency. I tell artists up front that I don't want it so why (on the rate occasion) when they personalize do they get angry when I don't want the piece once it's been personalized?

of I ever get sketches or bring along comics to be signed, I always ask them to be personalized. I was bummed when Neil Gaiman forgot to personalize a load of stuff I brought along, but it was the end of the day, maybe he didn't hear me properly

If it is published original art or commish, then no, just sign it
