Nothing that some acrylic or white-out can't fix.

oooohhhh, personalization. yuck. in the years I've been doing this, have only ever received 1 piece that was personalized. as stated earlier, on something thats inexpensive, who cares? anything that costs id say $100+, should be the commissioners/buyers option. I've had shots at invincible pages that were personalized and i totally passed. great page, but, personalized.

One time, I was getting a Wonder Woman sketch from Darwyn Cooke at a con. I was with my daughter, Selina, at the time. When he was done, it was personalized "To Selina". He never asked if I wanted it personalized or who to personalize it to. However, as Selina was barely 4 years old at the time, I found it odd that he would do that in my sketch book which incidentally had sketches dating back at least a decade before she was even born. Out of the 50+ sketches I've collected over the years, not a single sketch was personalized -- other than the Cooke one, which wasn't even personalized to me... lol

If I'm paying for it, I don't want it personalized.

i've had a few pieces personalized to me, i don't mind it but then again i haven't tired to sell any of them. One i know i can erase since it's pencil but the other 3 i would need to touch it up if i want to sell.

There are some artists the won't do commissions without personalizing them. I call it the eBay affect.

For at home commissions I leave it up to the artist, for Convention pieces I actually prefer to get them personalised. I tend to hang around artists alley the whole time and enjoy chatting with the artists and watching them work, for me the personalisation adds to the memory.

I actually enjoy it when an artist takes the time and thought to personalize a drawing I commissioned. At least for that brief moment, I was to that artist an actual person with a name, and not merely a faceless fistful of dollar bills.

As for a predrawn piece, a personalization wouldn't keep me from buying an artwork I really liked. As long as it wasn't personalized with, "To my close personal friend Adolf Hitler," or something like that.
