It's only a matter of time before the shift happens IMO, I think Covid is just speeding it up. Timed exclusivity for the theaters is the only remaining draw for me.

Going to the cinema has it's issues like you mention. There are other issues also, such as the expense, and the food, popcorn is a total rip-off. Besides, many people have quality set up's in their homes, and they can watch the movie as many times as they want, pause it, and watch the extra's. There is the option to sell the movie if you did not think much of it.
Old cinema's had a certain charm. Queuing up to watch a blockbuster, purchasing a ticket from some one in a glass box. Being shown to your seat by someone with a torch. Ice-cream sold inside the movie room prior to the main event. That's all gone now.
Visit a Vue cinema, and you get to walk into what feels like a warehouse/boxy building with zero charm. Providing you did not pre_book online, you get to purchase your ticket from a machine. Then you find your own way to theatre room, and to your seat. Whatch the film, go home. Something really feels amiss.
